This week’s episode of God With Us Live features one of the hardest working men in the Eastern Catholic Churches, Jack Figel. From his grassroots ecumenical outreach through the Orientale Lumen Foundation, his years of recording and releasing video and audio content from world renowned Eastern theologians, and his work as a publisher of unique Eastern books, Jack has and still is doing it all. We also talk about some exciting collaborations between the Orientale Lumen Foundation and God With Us Online.
Our saint of the week is St. Romanos the Melodist who wasn’t always so melodious.
In our second interview we get to dive in to the importance of singing in our Eastern Churches, as Dr. Rdr. Yuri Ivan (Choir Director and Cantor at St. Constantine Ukrainian Catholic Church in Minneapolis among his many other musical projects) talks about the Byzantine Choral Festival of Minnesota he founded back in 2010. This year’s festival features several choirs from area Catholic and Orthodox Churches as well as secular choirs singing liturgical music in a variety of settings and languages. If you’re in the Twin Cities, join us on Sunday, October 22, at 5:00 PM at St. Constantine’s.
