“Pray always,” St. Paul exhorts us (1 Th. 5.17). And yet, how do we achieve this? The ascetics of the Church have long extolled the Jesus Prayer as the most powerful means to achieve unceasing prayer. Join us as we explore this rich, but simple prayer of our Eastern Christian tradition, seeking to “remember God more often than [we] breathe.”

Rev. Hieromonk Maximos Davies
Rev. Hieromonk Maximos Davies is a monk and founding member of Holy Resurrection Monastery in Nazianz, Wisconsin, a monastic community under the jurisdiction of the Romanian Catholic Eparchy of St. George. He was tonsured in 2000 upon the establishment of the monastery, and ordained a priest by Bishop John Michael Botean in 2006. He has earned a Masters in Orthodox Christian Studies from the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute, as well as degrees in Art and Law from the University of Sydney. He frequently offers retreats for parishes and other organizations, and has written frequently on topics related to Eastern Christianity for various publications.
