Most Rev. Nicholas Samra
Bishop Nicholas Samra was born on August 15, 1944 in Patterson, NJ. He completed a B.A. at St. Anselm's College in Manchester, NH and a Bachelor of Divinity degree at St. John's Seminary in Brighton, MA. Bishop Samra was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Newton, MA on May 10, 1970. On He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Newton in 1989, and ordained to the episcopacy on July 7, 1989. In June 2011, the Synod of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church nominated him as Bishop of Newton to succeed Archbishop Cyril Salim Bustros. An active speaker and author, Bishop Samra has written extensively on the subjects of ecumenism, Christian leadership, and stewardship.
